When considering weight loss, a lot of
people decide
to consider the “easy” option of diet pill, diet patches,
body wraps, etc. This is an area of “weight loss” which is very misleading
and can be dangerous to your health.
In this e-mail I shall explain the various methods and
whether they are actually beneficial.
Diet Pills:
There are two types of diet pills, those that are “natural remedies” are
unlikely to damage your body, but are also unlikely to help you lose any
weight, and those that are chemical, and are not meant for weight loss.
The chemical category includes pills such as
amphetamines, in which weight loss is a side effect.
Unfortunately there are many other worse side effects, hence one of the
reasons why this type of drug is illegal.
A subsection within the chemical category is prescription pills, which are
recommended by a doctor. These will help weight loss, but only when taken
alongside a healthy diet and exercise. It is important to remember that
these pills cannot be taken on a long-term basis without the risk of some
damage to your body. It is only possible to obtain these diet pills through
prescription if you are clinically obese. Before considering any diet pill,
you
should consult your doctor.
The natural category includes nearly every other diet
pill on the market. They are made from a combination
of herbs and plants, and are supposed to promote
weight loss. However, most of them do not actually help the dieter achieve
any loss in weight. Instead, they act as a diuretic, and the weight loss is
actually through liquid weight loss.
Diet Patches:
There are a lot of diet patches on the market at the
moment. They all contain some plant or herbal extract, which claims to
assist weight loss. They work like a nicotine patch. You apply a patch to an
arm and the contents will be absorbed into your bloodstream over 24 hours.
Most of the herbal or plant extracts used in these patches are natural
diuretics or appetite suppressers.
You will not lose weight by simply applying these patches. Any weight loss
as a result of these patches is likely to be a loss of liquid, resulting
from the diuretic properties of the ingredients.
Body Wraps:
Body wraps are elastic-type bandages that are soaked in a variety of
solutions, e.g. amino acids, herbal extracts, etc. When applied to
particular areas of the body, such as the waist, thighs, etc. they are
supposed to have many benefits including fat-reduction, weight loss, skin
tightening and skin toning.
Usually you can have body wraps applied when you visit a specialist salon or
clinic. Sessions range between £25 and £100+
There has been no medical evidence to support the
claims that body wraps do produce any of the above
benefits. When having a body wrap, you may notice a
slight reduction in your measurements, however, this is not a lasting
effect. The only way to firm up your body is to perform regular exercise.
Also, the only way to lose weight is to follow a
healthy diet. |

5. Healthy Dinner Idea 3 – Tacos are a tasty and
healthy meal, which are made up of a combination from the food groups. Fill
the basic taco shells with lean mince, this can be either beef, chicken,
quorn or whatever else you fancy. Then add salad, such as lettuce, cucumber,
tomato, etc. Sprinkle some grated, low fat cheese and on the tacos. Finally
add some salsa sauce, if this is to your taste. |
